There's something about hockey season in Calgary.
The temperatures start dropping, Flames jerseys come out of the closet, and suddenly everyone's talking about the latest game.
But the 2026–27 NHL season is a little different.
This year marks the Calgary Flames' final season playing at the iconic Scotiabank Saddledome before their planned move to Scotia Place.
And for longtime Flames fans, that's a pretty big deal.
Saying Goodbye to a Calgary Landmark
The Saddledome has been part of Calgary's skyline since 1983.
It's hosted the 1988 Winter Olympics, countless hockey games, concerts, and major events!
For many Calgarians, it's also where they watched their first NHL game, celebrated a big win, or spent an unforgettable evening with friends and family.
Whether you're a diehard Flames fan or someone who only catches a few games each season, it's hard to imagine Calgary without the Saddledome.
A Season Full of Memories
The Flames opened their season at home against the Seattle Kraken on October 1.
October has already brought several exciting matchups, but there's still more hockey ahead.
The Flames are scheduled to host Seattle again on October 30 for a special Halloween-themed game.
And, of course, there's nothing quite like the Battle of Alberta.
Calgary visits Edmonton on October 28, giving fans another opportunity to enjoy one of hockey's biggest rivalries.
More Than Just Hockey
Professional sports are an important part of what makes Calgary such a great city.
Whether it's the Flames, Wranglers, Hitmen, or our other local teams, sporting events bring people together.
They're also a great way to introduce kids to the excitement of live sports.
There's something special about watching a young fan experience their first hockey game.
The noise, the excitement, the music, and the atmosphere are memories that can last a lifetime.
Looking Ahead to Scotia Place
With the new Scotia Place development to become the Flames' home for the 2027–28 season, Calgary is preparing for a new chapter in its sports history.
The new arena will change the city's entertainment landscape, but the Saddledome will always hold a special place in Calgary's history.
Let's Enjoy This Season!
Regardless of where the Flames finish in the standings, this season is about more than wins and losses.
It's an opportunity to celebrate a building that's been part of Calgary for more than four decades.
If you haven't been to a Flames game in a while, this might be the year to make it happen and the prices will never be lower!
Go Flames Go!
